Advanced solutions for integrating renewable energy into electricity grids
Artelia works with electricity transmission and distribution authorities in several countries to foster the integration of energy storage systems into grids, promoting the increased use of renewable energy. The Group has developed modelling tools for storage solutions and associated grid services, as well as Opti-Stor, a digital tool for the technical and economic optimisation of hybrid plant design.
We are involved in the design and implementation of electrochemical storage systems, in particular lithium-ion batteries, to optimise the production of renewable energy and balance its feed-in to the grid. In addition, Artelia is actively engaged in research and development on the issues of battery wear and recycling.
For long-term energy storage, we offer alternative solutions. We are experts in pumped-storage hydropower, a globally established technology that uses two reservoirs at different elevations to store and release energy. We also participate in the development of Power-to-X processes, which allow excess energy to be converted into heat, gas or synthetic fuels such as methane and hydrogen, contributing to the energy transition and sustainability of the industry.
