Active travel

Artelia designs and builds safe infrastructures for cycling and pedestrian mobility, ensuring their harmonious integration into the urban context.

Over the past decades, Artelia has been involved in several urban development projects with the aim of making travel safer and smoother by promoting active mobility through walking, cycling and scooter routes.

We take care of the integrated design of pedestrian and bicycle routes, ensuring that they are harmoniously incorporated into urban mobility plans. Our teams conduct traffic analyses to coordinate private and public transport, optimise interchanges and provide dedicated and safe parking facilities. We also study user behaviour to adapt infrastructures to the real needs of cyclists and pedestrians.

We participate in the realisation of linear and dedicated infrastructure, such as urban and regional cycle paths, footpaths, footbridges and connections between different transport systems, ensuring that they are safe and comfortable.

We also take care of the adaptation of existing infrastructures, such as roads, bridges and tunnels, integrating dedicated paths, cycle lanes, pedestrian islands, advanced signage and adaptations for accessibility for people with disabilities.

With this approach, we contribute to building more liveable, accessible and sustainable cities, improving the quality of urban mobility.
